A controversial new gun program in Houston got underway this weekend.

“The Armed Citizen Project” began giving out free guns to single women and residents living in high-crime areas.

The group wants them to be able to defend themselves against criminals.

In order to get a free gun you must pass a background check.

Word is, the group wants to do a giveaway in New York.
