SOUTH ORANGE (PIX11) – Seton Hall University officials decided to evacuate the entire South Orange campus Thursday after a bomb threat, according to the Essex County Sheriff’s Office.

A Facebook message posted at 3:30 p.m. claimed that there was a “bomb in every building,” according to officials.  Essex County bomb squad officers are now sweeping the 15 buildings that make up the campus, as well as the surrounding grounds.

Summer classes began May 21, and it is unclear how many students were on the campus at the time of the evacuation.  University officials are telling commuters headed for the campus to stay at home for the day.

The evacuation began at 3:36 p.m., it is unclear how long it will take to sweep the entire campus, school officials said.
