UPDATE, 7:10 P.M. Traffic remains a problem on the Garden State Parkway near Clark, N.J., after an accident brought rush hour commuters to a standstill Thursday.

Two lanes of the Garden State are still shuttered near Exit 135 in Clark, the scene of the accident.  The accident has been cleared, but traffic is still backed up till Exit 147.

I saw the traffic on the way home- luckily we avoided it though since we took 78 instead of 1 to get to the GSP after we heard this on the radio. That was at 7:15 though and the southbound lanes were still at a standstill all the way up to 280 in the Oranges.
I hope the guy who was airlifted is okay- can't seem to find any info on that.
We were also wondering what kind of car he was driving- the way the top sheared off was crazy. It's not like the car flipped, so I wonder how it happened, and what brand of car it was…

We've been looking for updates as well and can't find any. I think the car that was ripped open was a BMW but I can't swear to that.

It was "people don't know how to drive night" last night. This crash on the Parkway, a crash on the Turnpike and crash on Rt. 280. there were no alternate routes.
Took way to long to clear them.
