Law enforcement agents based in Boston are now part of a fatal shooting investigation.

They were that far south continuing the Boston Marathon bombing probe and were in a room, early this morning with several other officers, when they say Ibragim Todashev allegedly lunged at them with a knife, before one of the agents shot and killed him.

How is any of this connected to the Boston Marathon bombing investigation?

Todashev was reportedly friends with suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev and was being questioned for both of their alleged roles in a September 11, 2011 triple murder in Massachusetts.

Khasuen Taramov is a friend who was also being questioned and says the FBI began focusing on all of them because they’re from Chechnya.

“When they start questioning us, right — next day, after the bombing.  Not the bombing — after they found out that the bombers were Checnyans, and they start following us”, said Taramov.

The friend says Todashev was indeed in contact with Tsarnaev.

“The FBI, everybody knows what happened. They know that he had, that he used to talk to them [Tsarnaev]. Right? Last time he had a connection with the guy [Tsarnaev], it was months ago. He just spoke on the phone. After that, he never spoke to him, right? And when the bombing happened, he actually came to me the next day and said, “I can’t believe it. I can’t believe they did it.” you know what I’m saying?”, said Taramov.
