Among the tears and laughable moments, Barbra Walters announced her retirement plans on this morning’s episode of “The View”.

A graceful bow-out after a career that’s spanned decades and forever changed the way we view journalists today.

When the living icon first arrived at NBC, working as a writer back in the 60’s, then as on-air talent, she says one of her greatest accomplishments was transforming the title of on-air “girl” to that of “co-host”.

Walters said her announcement may have been today, but she won’t actually be off TV until 2014.
