Three NYPD officers dubbed ‘top cops’ in Washington

NEW YORK (PIX11)- Three of New York’s finest were honored in Washington, D.C. as “top cops.”

Detectives Ivan Marcano, Terrence Munnelly and Steven Smith were recognized on Saturday by the National Association of Police Organizations.

President Obama and Vice President Biden also honored the three men.

While off duty, Detective Marcano stopped an armed robbery after being shot and critically wounded in October of 2011.

Detectives Munnelly and Smith solved the crime, leading to the suspects’ arrest.

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said their actions reflect proudly on every member of the NYPD.
