NEW YORK (PIX11)- On Sunday Senator Chuck Schumer held a press conference to call for legislation banning guns you could possibly make in your garage.

His announcement comes as a Texas company is planning to release blueprints online that could help make a plastic gun with a 3D printer. They are calling it “The Liberator.”

Last week a gun was made this way, it was fully operational and fully legal.

It was comprised completely of plastic, meaning it wouldn’t set off a metal detector.

The guns would look like toys but would be able to fire regular bullets.

The current legislation that bans nonmetal weapons expires at the end of the year and doesn’t include weapons made with 3D printing technology.
