CNN– The U.S. believes Israel has conducted an airstrike in Syria.

That’s according to two American officials.

The U.S. and western intelligence agencies are reviewing classified data showing Israel most likely conducted a strike on Thursday or Friday.

But officials say they don’t think Israel invaded Syrian airspace to do it.

The U.S. collected additional data showing Israel was flying a high number of warplanes over Lebanon.

The Lebanese army website listed 16 flights by Israeli warplanes that penetrated Lebanon’s airspace between Thursday and Friday.

The Israelis have long said they would strike any targets involved in transferring chemical weapons to Hezbollah or other terrorist groups.

The Israeli army is not commenting on the information.
