Fighting women’s cancer at 2013 NYC Revlon Run/Walk

NEW YORK (PIX11)-  The 2013 Entertainment Industry Foundation Revlon Run/Walk came to New York City on Saturday.

Thousands gathered in Times Square to run or walk to raise money towards finding a cure, educating women, and diagnostic treatment services for women suffering from cancer.

Participants included victims, families, survivors, supporters and celebrities.

The day was not only about fighting the deadly disease and donating money for women’s cancer counseling, but protecting the people of New York City.

City officials kept the Boston Marathon bombings in the back of their minds therefore, security measures were beefed up this year. There was a heavy police presence along with bomb-sniffing dogs.

Still despite the fear of the repeating the tragedy here in New York, folks kept their eyes on the prize: beating breast cancer.

As one woman told 1010 wins radio, “You can step out your door and something can happen,” or she pointed out: “You can develop breast cancer, like my mom did, and die a month or two later.”
