Help Me Howard: The lot next to my house has turned into a dump!

For 43 years Ernestine McKoy has lived at 13th Ave. & Grove Street in Newark.  She’s raised two kids there. She’s proud of her home. She cares about her neighborhood.

But for about the past 5 years, Ernestine says the lot next door has been a dumping ground for construction material and debris. Bricks, sheet rock, you name it.

It was supposed to be the site of three new homes.  But the economic downturn sank that plan.  So now the lot owner dumps there.  Ernestine’s complaints to him and to the city have fallen deaf ears.  So she called Help Me Howard.

Howard got the lot owner to promise a clean-up within 15 days.  That deadline is next week.  Howard is coming back to see if the owner is a man of his word and Ernestine can smile again when she looks next door.
