David Windmiller landed his plane on Route 231 in Babylon.

“Just within seconds afterward, the motor seized and came apart in the air and I had to pick a place to land and not hurt anyone,” said Windmiller, who was not hurt.

He says he was able to “wiggle in and out of some cars” and “behind trucks.”

Windmiller told Newsday he is preparing to fly in the annual Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach, which takes place May 25 and 26.
