Hipster Jesus ad sparks talk

It’s not often we stop to analyze advertisements on the side of phone booths, but this one, scattered throughout Brooklyn and Queens is worth a second glance.

It’s a mash-up of Jesus in his classic white robe, meets hipster style which is portrayed through these worn out red Converse shoes.

Although some passersby think it is offense, Father Kieren Harrington of the Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn says it’s enlightening and a big conversation topic.

“People often think Jesus had blond hair and blue eyes, but that wasn’t the case,” Harrington says. “this just shows that he was likely more of a hippster and likely more like us.”

Harrington says the picture was created to make people notice the Catholic Dioces of Brookyn. And notice, like the ad located on Ashland Place and Delkalb Avenue, is exactly what they did.
