Boston bombing suspects; a look into the lives of the Tsarnaev brothers

Tamerlan, left and Dzhokar Tsarnaev at the scene of the Boston Marathon last Monday. Tamerlan’s wife, Katherine Russell, said she learned of her husband’s alleged role on the news.

(CNN) — Katherine Russell, the wife of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev, apparently learned through news reports that he was suspected in the attack, her lawyer, Amato DeLuca, told CNN’s Chris Lawrence.

“That’s my understanding,” Amato said about whether she learned Tsarnaev was a suspect through the news.

The family of Russell had issued a typed statement outside their North Kingstown, New Hampshire, house Friday, according to The North Kingstown Patch.

It read: “Our daughter has lost her husband today, the father of her child. We cannot begin to comprehend how this horrible tragedy occurred. In the aftermath of the Patriot’s Day horror, we know that we never really knew Tamerlane Tsarnaev. Our hearts are sickened by the knowledge of the horror he has inflicted. Please respect our family’s privacy in this difficult time.”
