Horace Mann alumni have hired former judge and sex crimes prosecutor Leslie Crocker Snyder to do an independent investigation into abuse allegations.

The group says it was looking for someone with the skills of a district attorney and the wisdom of a judge; she’s also the founder of the Manhattan Sex Crimes Prosecution Bureau.

Several alumni have claimed that teachers at the elite Bronx prep school molested students from the 70’s into the 90’s.

The NYPD Special Victims Division says it closed its investigation because the offenses didn’t fall within the statute of limitations for sex crimes in New York State.
