ALBANY, N.Y. (PIX11) — An upstate New York teacher is on leave Monday after instructing students to “think like a Nazi.”

The Albany history teacher issued the controversial writing assignment to a group of sophomores to imagine they were a Nazi and argue that Jews are evil.

She also instructed students to pretend she was a Nazi government official and to convince her of their loyalty.

The assignment was given to prepare students to read holocaust survivor Eli Weisel’s memoir “Night.”

The school has publicly apologized.
