NEW JERSEY (PIX11)- Across the Hudson, thousands of immigrants and supporters gathered in Liberty State Park on Saturday afternoon for the “Time Is Now” rally.

A coalition of organizations from around the garden state participated in calling on Congress to pass “common sense immigration reform.”

The rally was sponsored by 32BJ of the Service Employees International Union.

There are one hundred and twenty five thousand members of the union, nine thousand of them live in New Jersey.

The reform includes a path to citizenship and protection for workers.

Supporters say reforming the country’s broken immigration system would lead to $1.5 trillion in economic growth, nearly a million new jobs and $5.4 billion more in revenue.
