Urbi et Orbi; Pope Francis celebrates first Easter as pontiff

ROME, ITALY (PIX11)- Pope Francis celebrated his first Easter mass as pontiff this morning.

The Vatican estimates a two hundred and fifty thousand people packed Saint Peter’s square on the holiest day of the Christian calendar.

The Pope called for worldwide efforts for peace, from Israel and the Palestinians to North and South Korea.

Later, in his “Urbi et Orbi” blessing, Pope Francis called for a “political solution” in Syria.
