WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, UPPER MANHATTAN (PIX11)– At least one of them had a mask. They had guns. And police believe they kidnapped a couple in broad daylight.

Police from the 33rd precinct were talking to residents of West 173rd Street and Haven Avenue twenty four hours after surveillance cameras captured images of a male and female victim of an alleged kidnapping. She’s in a long white coat and black pants. He’s in dark clothing. It happened at 7 p.m. but still no one has been reported missing to the NYPD.

“If I were missing for 24 hours, people wouldn’t know I was missing,” Crystal Vitiello, a neighbor, told PIX 11.

Crystal lives right across the street from the alleged abduction. Her apartment building has the cameras which caught the pictures of two of the kidnappers running north on Haven Avenue and the third man driving this dark town and country minivan with tinted windows.

Teenagers in a nearby park were the ones who called 911.

“Somebody told me the couple lives right across the street,” Nicholas Hughes, 17 years old said. “It’s really concerning.”

As police questioned many on this block, There was fear and questions but few answers.

“Oh my god, that’s frightening,” Xander Chauncey, a neighbor, said. “I always thought this neighborhood was safe.”

A woman walking her pit bull added, “I am glad I have my dog with me in this neighborhood.”

But Wrona said, “they must have known who they were taking. This wasn’t random.”
