NEW YORK (PIX11)– Mayor Bloomberg took to national television Sunday to defend his new gun control ad.

Furthermore he is looking to push for public support in other states.

The ads will hit the airwaves Monday in 12 key states where Bloomberg feels lawmakers can be swayed to change their stance on gun control.

Bloomberg is ponying up $12 million dollars of his own cash for the cause.

He says now is the time to push for stricter regulation, while the Sandy Hook shootings weigh heavily on the national conscience.

NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre fired back at Bloomberg this morning, telling him he can’t buy the American vote.
