Get ready to ride! Many of Coney Island’s biggest attractions are set to reopen Sunday.

A celebration is planned beginning at noon. The public is invited to watch the traditional egg cream christening of the Cyclone. And the first 100 people can ride the 86 year-old roller coaster for free.

Superstorm Sandy caused millions of dollars of damage to iconic Cyclone, Luna Park and Scream Zone, according to Central Amusement International.

All will reopen Sunday, as will Deno’s Wonder Wheel.

Engineers have been working 7 days a week to make the necessary repairs so the park opens on time.

But not everyone is excited. Locals have expressed frustration that some basic services have not been restored and stores have not reopened following Sandy.

Central Amusement International said they used their own money to rebuild the rides and games.

While the 2013 season kicks off Sunday, the New York Aquarium and Nathan’s hot dogs will open later this spring.
