Teachers are supposed to inspire their students, but at Monroe High School in the Bronx, they also hire.

Carmen Skrine and Steve Caballero are teachers at the Bronx High school.  They are opening a seafood restaurant, and in a rare move, are hiring their students to work behind the counter and have stake in the company.

“Its important for them to learn to save and do real life business, so its’ a win-win for everybody,” said Steve Caballero, who teaches biology and finance.

“This teaches our students if you have a dream you have to go after it, with a lot of hard work,” said Carmen Skrine,  a former marine and physical education teacher.

Their restaurant,  Fishnet Cafe, at 474 Willis Ave., will open in the next few weeks.
