Ice Fall

The WTC PATH station will close at 10 p.m. Tuesday evening to clear ice that has built up in canvas high up on the building.  It will open again at 5 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The station was temporarily closed early in the evening after reports of ice crashing down to the sidewalk during the p.m. rush.

The Port Authority issued the following statement:

“PATH riders wishing to travel between Manhattan and New Jersey should use the 33rd Street lines between 10 p.m. tonight and 5 a.m. Wednesday morning, due to closure of the World Trade Center station as a safety precaution while ice is cleared from the nearby One World Trade Center building.

Reopening of the World Trade Center PATH station is anticipated in time for the morning rush hour.”

I warned them at 8:55 am when a large bolder size ice slamned the top of my wife's SUV on the West street side as we traveled to her job. Thank God were alive.
