Construction worker trapped 50 feet below ground in 2nd Ave. subway tunnel

A worker is trapped 50 feet below ground in a 2nd ave subway construction site on 2nd ave and East 95th St., according to the FDNY.

The man is buried in mud and wood, possibly up to his neck.  Several FDNY Special Operations Command units are on the scene.

The Office of Emergency Management is also responding, and a special vacuum truck has been ordered from Con Edison to assist in removing mud and dirt.

The victim’s condition is not yet known.
