It’s a Grand Central showdown. Although some might argue it’s a shake-down.
A wildly popular NYC burger joint can’t move to Grand Central until a Mexican restaurant currently there vacates the space. Zocalo has been on Grand Central’s lower level for more than a decade and has taken the matter to court. When the lease was up, the MTA bid out the project and it was won by Shake Shack. The establishment is known for shakes, burgers and long lines.
Zocalo has challenged the details of the bidding process and will not leave despite the expired lease.
