Cameras that catch red-light runners have become commonplace around New York and New Jersey. The New York City Council is supporting legislation introduced in Albany that would allow the city to install cameras to catch speeding drivers. Those cameras could not be installed until the bill is passed and signed by the Governor.

Cameras are omnipresent in the city to monitor traffic, crime, and popular areas.
