Police arrested a Tampa Bay Buccaneers player who arrived at LaGuardia Airport Monday morning illegally carrying a handgun, according to reports.
Da’Quan Bowers, who played defensive end for the Bucs last year, was carrying a Smith & Wesson .40 caliber gun when he approached the ticket counter, according to the Port Authority and Queens District Attorney’s Office.
Bowers was trying to board a flight to Raleigh, North Carolina, but was instead charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is due in Queens criminal court tonight.
A former All-American player, the 22-year-old Bowers has played professional football for two years. He was drafted from Clemson University.
