New York rat population exploding in Sandy’s wake

Rats are on the rise, thanks to Superstorm Sandy.

Exterminators say they have seen an increase in rats – especially inland.

They say the rats were driven inland by storms swells and coastal flooding.

The problem was compounded by homes left vacant, garbage piling up and frigid weather driving rats indoors.
