BREAKING: Blizzard warning has been issued for New York and Long Island

A Blizzard warning has been issued from 6 a.m. Friday to 1 p.m.  Saturday for NYC and Long Island.

Significant snow accumulations are expected.

* The city could get between 12 and 16 inches of snow.

* Winds could gust as high as 55 mph.

* Temperatures will fall to the 20s.

* Visibilities will fall to under a quarter mile

The worst of the storm is expected to hit Friday night into Saturday morning.


According to the National Weather Service,  “A blizzard warning means severe winter weather conditions are
Expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout conditions…making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel.  If you must travel. Have a winter survival kit with you.  If you get stranded…stay with your vehicle.”
