BRONX, NEW YORK (PIX11)– “He was so big, like he was swollen, his chest and his face, and he was bleeding from his chest and he was calling his mommy” said neighbor Wanda Simonetti.

Police say 17-year-old Casmine Aska pushed a 9-year-old boy from the roof of his five story apartment building Friday night.

Neighbor Philip Rivera tells us the 9-year-old and Aska’s younger brother were running around the hallway and playing on the roof just before it happened.

Casmine Aska, 17, is in custody after allegedly throwing a 9-year-old boy from the roof of a Bronx building.

“It’s like shocking to me for this to actually happen because basically I heard them in the hallway playing, running up and down the stairs, maybe just a while before I see the flashing lights.”

The 9-year-old boy was taken to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition.

Today Aska’s mother had nothing to say to reporters as she left the apartment building.

Her 17-year-old son is charged with second degree attempted murder.

It’s still not clear what would have caused Aska to push the young boy off the roof, but neighbors who know the teen say they can’t believe he could commit such a terrible act.

Freddy Martin, 9, is in critical condition after being pushed from this Bronx rooftop.

“Anytime he was upstairs, he would come into my house, he’d talk to us.  He’s not really, like, for them to say that he pushed him, no,” says Rivera.

Meanwhile neighbor Wanda Simonetti says she’s praying for the victim’s family.

“It’s very bad because I think of my grandkids.  If something happened to them I’d go crazy.”
