Police are looking for murder suspect Brandon Santana who escaped from the 78 Precinct in Park Slope.

Police say it happened around 2 a.m. Thursday.  Santana was arrested Wednesday night in connection with a homicide investigation and was at the 78th Pct. being questioned.

A police source tells PIX11. Santana was in a holding area, asked to use the bathroom and when an officer escorted him to the bathroom, Santana pushed the officer down and ran out the front door.

The officer was treated for minor injuries.

SlopePrecinct

Santana was a suspect in a brutal Park Slope slaying in 2010, according to reports.  Police believe he was part of a group that attacked 22-year-old Alexander Santiago on the corner of 5th Ave. and 12th St.  The group beat Santiago to death, hitting him multiple times in the head with a tire iron, and stabbing another person from his group.  That man survived his injuries, while Santiago was pronounced dead in an area hospital.

It is unclear what role police believe Santana played in the attack.  A police manhunt is now underway to locate the fugitive.

Santana is described as a Hispanic male, 5’11, 200lbs. He has black hair brown eyes and was last seen wearing a brown hooded jacket and blue jeans.

If you have any information on his whereabouts call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
