The following is a news release
On January 29, 2013 at 7:00PM, Mario Diaz and Tamsen Fadal of CW11 WPIX-TV hosted the NY Lizard’s Blizzard; a benefit for Monster’s Kids at SPiN New York, 48 East 23rd St., in New York.
The evening featured a Ping-Pong tournament, a silent auction, food and refreshments and a chance to meet the New York Lizards team. A percentage of proceeds of the evening will go to support the efforts of Monster’s Kids, a not for profit organization, founded by former NY Lizard, and Lacrosse Magazine’s 2010 Person of the Year, Tim Goettelmann. Combining his passion for lacrosse with his love for children, Goettelmann’s charity benefits sick and injured children at Cohen Children’s Hospital in New Hyde Park, New York. The evening took place at SPiN New York, a Ping-Pong parlor co-owned by Academy Award-winning actress Susan Sarandon, located in the heart of Gramercy. SPiN New York is the flagship branch of the SPiN Galactic franchise – a galaxy of Ping-Pong social clubs.

The Lizards were purchased in 2012, by a group led by Andrew Murstein of Medallion Financial Group as well as Richard Mack of AREA Property Partners. In the upcoming 2013 season, the Lizards will play five home games at Hofstra University’s Shuart Stadium and two home games at Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island in New York City.
