It’s time to bring back the sequins and big hair.

Set in 1984, we get to see a young Carrie Bradshaw, with wide-eyes and teenage excitement as she learns to navigate through New York City, and through her closet.

“You’re going to see Carrie discover her style and see her fashion as she goes,” Eric Daman, the famed costume designer of Gossip Girl says. He is now focusing his talents on this anticipated “Sex and the City” prequel, “The Carrie Diaries”.

AnnaSophia Robb plays a young Carrie in the CW’s “The Carrie Diaries,”a prequel to the series to “Sex In The City.”

“The 80’s fashion is the biggest thing,” he says, after we ask him about the differences between the old and new Carrie. “Also, it’s her going to public school, she’s no longer the Upper East Side girl. I think it’s important to pull back from that and kind of create a quieter Carrie.”

Also we learn, along with the bright clothes and retro sound track comes the true focus of the show, an 80’s coming of age story.

Carrie Diaries premiers Monday at 8pm on PIX11.
