On Long Island, almost 100 dogs and puppies saved from puppy mills are up for adoption at the North Shore Animal League headquarters in Port Washington.

They were rescued just this week from commercial breeding operations in the Midwest and from a California shelter in Los Angeles.

The dogs are all kinds from Shih Tzu’s to Schnauzers.

They’ve all been checked for illness and behavioral problems and have been spayed and neutered.
