Police are talking to a Department of Correction officer after his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend was shot twice in the chest Tuesday afternoon in Brooklyn.

According to reports, around 1 p.m. the off-duty officer was driving with his girlfriend — who is also a DOC officer — when her ex began following them in a Cadillac Escalade SUV.  The two men began arguing and the dispute escalated, ending with the 31-year-old victim shot.

Responding officers found the the correction officer and his girlfriend in a Mercedes at East Flatbush and Utica.  They claim the shooting was in self defense, and believed that the victim had a gun — however no weapon has yet been recovered.
