Woman’s naked, burnt body found on Brooklyn beach

Police combed the shore of Gerritsen Beach near Gerritsen and Lois Aves. trying to find clues Sunday after someone found a young woman’s naked, charred body.

“Earlier this morning I had went out and heard that they found a body down in the water . . . it’s such a tight-knit community,” said resident Dennis Marley who was out walking his dog and pet rabbit.

Police say she was a young black woman believed to have been in her late teens or early twenties, but her identity remains a mystery.  There was initial speculation that she could have been a Sandy victim, but police ruled that out because the body was not badly decomposed.

A police investigation continues.
