Dylan Smith saved six people during Hurricane Sandy.

The man who saved six people during Hurricane Sandy was laid to rest Saturday.

Friends and family of Dylan Smith gathered at Saint Francis de Sales parish to say goodbye.

During the storm the 23-year-old used a rope and his surfboard to bring people to safety as flooding and fire engulfed the rockaways.

Just a few weeks later his body was found off the coast of Puerto Rico. He’d apparently drowned while surfing.

Police are investigating his death.
