Plan for armed guards in Staten Island schools gains support

Staten Island parents are proposing that armed guards who are retired cops start patrolling the schools on Staten Island

They are trying to avoid another mass shooting like the one in Newtown.

According to the proposal, the guards would actually be in plain clothes so as not to alarm the kids. The proposal goes to the Department of Education for a vote next month.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg is totally against the idea., but many people PIX11 talked to thought it was a good idea.
