Jean Harris, convicted killer of her ex-lover, the ‘Scarsdale Diet’ doctor, dies

Jean Harris has died.

She made national news in 1980, in the murder case of her ex-lover, doctor Herman Tarnower.

He wrote the best-selling book The Scarsdale Diet.

Harris served 12 years of a 15-year-to-life sentence.

Minutes before she was wheeled into open-heart surgery Governor Mario Cuomo granted her clemency.

Harris died at an assisted living facility in Connecticut.

She was 89.
