Yankees’ Derek Jeter calls family of Sandy Hook teacher Victoria Soto

The mother of the courageous teacher who was killed while shielding her students during the Newtown massacre got a call from one of her daughter’s heroes.

Yankee captain Derek Jeter called Victoria Soto’s mother Donna yesterday — the same day the 27-year-old was laid to rest.

Donna Soto did not give any details of the call but did say she had a long chat with the Yankee shortstop and the conversation was uplifting.
