US marine stands guards at his children’s elementary school

In the wake of the tragedy in Newtown, many parents were on edge this week as children went back to school.  One parent decided take action to ensure his children’s safety, and give parents and students some peace of mind.

Former Marine Jordan Pritchard, who served in Afghanistan, is voluntarily guarding Gower Elementary School in Tennessee.  After dropping his first and second grader off inside the building, Pritchard stationed himself outside, greeting parents and providing a feeling of security to students.

He plans to guard the school until the holiday break.
