Superstorm Sandy hit him hard, but a tiny blast from the past has given one Staten Island man a link to a much simpler time.

Newlyweds on their honeymoon in the Bahamas found a class ring in the sand, caked in coral and wrapped in seaweed. It turned out Robert De Vincenzi, Wagner College Class of 1976, had lost that ring while on vacation there 35 years ago.

The couple tracked him down.

“Never in a million years” did he think he’d recover the ring. “It just happens to be right after Hurricane Sandy, when most of my belongings were all gone,” he said.
