Jews around the world are celebrating Hanukkah.

Sunday night, a special ceremony marked the lighting of the National Menorah in Washington, D.C.

It marked the first day and second night of the Festival of Lights.

Thousands of people gathered to see it. The national menorah is 30 feet high and sits near the White House.

It’s been a regular part of holiday celebrations in Washington since 1979.
