BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) — Several people were hospitalized after a two-car crash Saturday afternoon at an intersection in Bensonhurst, where locals say accidents are commonplace.

Eight people were hurt — some of them pedestrians — when, according to authorities, two cars collided after one may have ┬árun a stop sign. One of the cars flipped, landing on its roof. The crash took place close to 2:30 p.m. at the corner of Quentin Road and West 5th Street.

Police say four pedestrians, a mother, her year-old child and child’s grandparents, were among those injured. They were taken to Lutheran Hospital Center; doctors list two of them — including the grandmother, as critical. The child’s injuries weren’t serious.

There’s no word on the condition of the others at this time.

Police are still investigating the crash.
