The people who live on 80th Street just off of Fifth Avenue in Bay Ridge have an enormous problem.

A huge Sycamore tree came crashing down during Sandy. The Parks Department removed the tree, but left a massive stump.  Although the storm was over a month ago, the stump was still blocking the couple’s driveway.

The massive stump prevented the homeowners from using their driveway

The stump is on a city sidewalk and is from a city tree, so the homeowners had to go through the proper protocol to remove it, which is not always easy.

“They have the resources. If they wanted to do it, they would do it tomorrow,” said a Bay Ridge resident.

Pix11 reached out to The Parks Department.  The said the agency The Department of Design and Construction were handling the matter since it is a city sidewalk.

The results after PIX11 aired the story of the homeowner’s frustration

After PIX11 aired the story, the homeowners finally got results.

“One of the inspectors at The Department of Transportation advised me you should call channel 11 before you call any of the regulatory departments,” said the homeowner. “They make a story and you have it done!”
