Earlier this spring, some decorative planters sprung up on the sidewalk along Price Street at Mercer Street. Vendors, who have permits to set up shop in the area, were no longer able to make use of that space.
Decorative planters have caused a SoHo showdown with vendors and pedestrians
It ignited a sidewalk showdown between a community group trying to beautify the neighborhood, vendors and pedestrians. The Department of Transportation did not authorize the planters and issued several notices of violations.
The planters have been removed.
