Rockefeller Center, New York –  Thousands gathered in an iconic Rockefeller Center on a cold Wednesday night to watch a tree lighting that is a repellent to some New Yorkers and a magnetic for many others.

This year’s tree has almost 45,000 lights and is over 80 feet tall.

Enthusiasts began packing into the plaza hours before the scheduled 8:55 pm flicking of the switch. A packed entertainment schedule proceeded the lights, though it was a stage precious few could actually see. For thousands of others, it was background music to distract from the cold as the moment neared for the 45,000 lights on the 80+foot tree to shine.

In an unofficial quiz, PIX11 took a quiz to the spectators to find out how well know the performers were – and the unofficial results surprised ourselves, take a look at our report.
