Kirstin Cole reports for the PIX11 Morning News, and also fills in as an anchor.  She signed on with the news team in 2011, but it’s her second time as a PIXer, having been part of the inaugural team that launched the PIX 11 morning news in 2000-2001.

She brings her passion for storytelling to the station, working to expose wrongs and help those who deserve a voice.  She’s never backed down from a fight, whether it be taking on politicians, corporate giants or the bad guy around the corner.  Her passion extends to charitable work as well—serving on the Board of Directors for Achilles, International to help disabled athletes compete in mainstream races; she’s previously been a board member for the New York Institute of Technology, a school that has fostered many broadcast journalism careers; and lent her voice to countless charities including those that help foster care children and addicts in rehab.

Speaking of voice:  Kirstin sings with passion (if not the greatest ear) for The Inner Circle, a group of journalists that put on an annual show roasting politicians for charity, as well as several charitable cabarets each year.  And she’s not afraid to break a sweat to beat cancer:  she’s raised thousands of dollars and logged just as many miles on her bike for Leukemia & Lymphoma and cancer fundraising efforts!

Although a born and raised Connecticut girl, Kirstin considers New York her adopted home, having lived in Manhattan, Long Island, Westchester and Putnam counties.  Her passion for news has lead her to gigs at WCBS-TV where she was an award winning anchor and reporter, though she got her start on Long Island at WLNY-TV55 and News 12 Long Island and even worked in the Buckeye state of Ohio at the Columbus ABC and Fox affiliates.

As a breaking news reporter, she has covered the aftermath of the attacks of 9-11, the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, floods and tornados, the crash of TWA Flight 800 off Long Island, and spent whole days on “storm team” coverage of blizzards!

Spare time is spent sweating over elementary school math problems (not always with great accuracy), running a super busy kid to dance class, perfecting her homemade gnocchi and apple pie, trying to get a killer forehand to match her trash talking on the court while logging miles and hours on her road bike.

And she’s not just about the lipgloss:  Kirstin is a summa cum laude graduate of Chicago’s Loyola University with a degree in communications and a concentration in journalism. She lives in the New York she loves with her all time favorite production, her daughter.
