    BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, Brooklyn —  Two NYPD officers were shot early Saturday during a chase and shootout with a suspect who was also wounded, police said.     RANDALL’S ISLAND (AP/PIX11) – A group of probationary FDNY firefighters has contracted a drug-resistant bacterial infection and at least one member has been hospitalized, according to fire officials. The trainees contracted the super-bug, Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, also known as MRSA, while training at the FDNY academy on Randall’s Island.     LONG ISLAND (PIX11/AP) —  The historic  Long Island rainstorm has claimed its first fatality, a motorist whose SUV was struck by a tractor-trailer during the height of the storm.   • Thousands on Long Island without power due to storm

    LONG ISLAND (PIX11) — Some 4,000 PSEG customers are without power on Long Island because of the intense weather conditions. Most of the outages are in Nassau County. A PSEG spokewoman said crews are working on repairing the damage. Crews have not been able to get to a couple of hundred customers due to flooded streets. Suffolk County legislator Rob Calarco posted on social media that there are about 300,000 people across Long Island without electricity.
