Friday, we took the PIX11 Morning Show on the road!
We head up to Joyce Kilmer Park in the Bronx to enjoy the flavor of the Grand Concourse and zip code 10452.
Joyce Kilmer Park is two blocks from Yankee Stadium and steps away from the Bronx Supreme Court. It’s named after Joyce Kilmer — a Columbia University graduate and popular writer (he penned the popular poem “Trees“) who died fighting for the U.S. in WWI.
Below are some segments from the show:
Hometown Heroes: Bronx teacher Stephen Ritz is helping students by teaching students how to grow and cook healthy food and promote a healthy lifestyle. Not only does his program help his students, he also helps the community by letting students take home what they grow and giving some produce to local cancer patients.
Local Eats: No need for a plane ticket! PIX11 stops by Arthur Avenue for a local taste of Italy with their hot spots to get authentic Italian food. From pastries, meat, and cheese, you can get great Italian food in the Bronx.
Marvin Scott Day: Reporter Marvin Scott was born and raised in the Bronx, has been inducted into the Bronx Walk of Fame and the Bronx Jewish Hall of Fame. PIX11 might be bias, but we think it's only fitting there is also now a Marvin Scott Day in his native borough.
Hip hop - Born in the Bronx: Boogie down in the Bronx this weekend with the Hip Hope Fever event! Platinum selling hip hop artist Rob Base and legendary music producer stopped by to chat with Oji about the event, which includes Kool Moe Dee, Black Sheep, The Fearless Four and Rob Base himself! Visit Hip Hop Fever 2018 at Lehman Center for the Performing Arts in the Bronx May 5 at 8 p.m. For tickets, click here.
Thanks for spending your morning with New York's Very Own PIX11!
