2 innocent bystanders shot in Crown Heights, Brooklyn

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn — Two innocent bystanders were shot in Crown Heights section of Brooklyn Friday night when they were caught in the line of fire.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. at Rogers Avenue and Sullivan Place.

Police say it all started when two rivals get into a fist fight. It escalated when an unidentified man pulled out a gun and fired several shots, accidentally striking the other man's girlfriend in the leg.

Another bullet went through a traffic cone and struck a second woman, who was getting her child out of her van.

Both women were transported to the hospital where they are expected to be OK.

The man who fired the shots was caught a few blocks away and taken into custody for questioning. Police are still looking for the second man involved in the altercation.
